Eyes on you

I watch you all with one eye
Because the other eye
Is too busy confronting reality
With the right eye
I take in surreal beauty
While my other eye
Is obstructed by the bile
Of a man in rags
Begging for food and justice
Then I smile looking hard
With the other eye to
Watch the news about some politicians
Sunning their white hides outside
Now my left eye becomes weepy
The other eye cries in sympathy
Then the vision splits
Making life feel crossed
Away in opposite directions
One eye wants the simple life
While the other mourns
The images that split them in two
Eye contact can see pleasure
When it looks away
One eye might remain peeled
For trouble
You see life has me coming and going
I look both ways
Feeling the blemish
In peoples eyes
But I am having
Trouble cause
I paid the wrong dues
And the membership has lapsed
Now I need to close an eye
When I walk down
The street
Even if it reminds me
Of the man in rags
Cause behind that
Image sits an empty rice bowl
And I want to close my
Other eye so god damn much
And on that side I am
Running out of tears
Now things seem way
Out of balance
My face is changing shape
My emotions no longer
Harmonious
I see shadows fighting
In the darkness
And wonder if my
Eyes have tears to spare tonight
