The Harbingers

Trawl a wake on a dawn lorn lake
and gulls will follow
Where the wake flows free it's a guarantee
that gulls will follow
Gasp with glee at the snow-capped peaks
and gulls will follow
Proffer crusts to the ducks' fleet beaks
and gulls will follow
Cast the lures and feel assured
that gulls will follow
Seek the deeps in Lake Taupo's weeds
and gulls will follow
Plunge to the deep and drown off to sleep
still gulls will follow
Though you're laid to rest ten miles from their nests
gulls will follow
